Responsibilities

We are looking for a teacher for a 10-hour per week position, from September 9, 2026, to June 30, 2027.

The targeted program is the development of specific skills (DHS), in the area of social integration. You will have the opportunity to support an adult clientele living with moderate to severe disabilities, some of whom also have a language disorder.

Your role will consist of assisting participants in developing their social, relational, and cognitive skills, taking into account their abilities, needs, and limitations. Teaching is primarily done in small groups, using a concrete approach tailored to each individual's reality.

Learning done in class is then revisited and consolidated with on-site staff, thus facilitating its transfer to various everyday situations.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver courses tailored to the individual needs of students;

• Teach and facilitate courses in accordance with the social participation program;

• Develop and implement teaching-learning activities adapted to the needs and skill level of students;

• Encourage and support the integration of students;

• Develop students' autonomy and sense of responsibility.

Requirements

Desired requirements and skills

• Have a minimum work experience with adult clientele with ASD, mild disabilities, or Down syndrome;

• Aptitude for teamwork and collaboration with other teachers, staff members, and professionals such as pedagogical advisors, psychoeducators, and special education technicians;

• Great autonomy, organizational skills, and planning;

• Aptitudes for communication, listening, and having interpersonal skills;

• Be able to drive to Varennes;

• Sense of professional ethics.
